Planet of Lana II Dev Diary Highlights Orchestral Soundtrack by Composer Takeshi Furukawa

Wishfully Studios and Thunderful have released a new developer diary for Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf, offering an in-depth look at the creation of the sequel’s orchestral soundtrack. The video centers on BAFTA-nominated composer Takeshi Furukawa, who returns following his acclaimed work on the original Planet of Lana.

Inside the Music of Planet of Lana II

In the dev diary, Furukawa is filmed in Budapest, Hungary, where he discusses recording with a full orchestra and choir. As the scope of Planet of Lana II expands beyond its predecessor, the music has grown with it, evolving into a richer, more layered score that matches the sequel’s broader world and emotional stakes.

Furukawa explains how the soundtrack blends orchestral composition with choral elements and traditional Swedish musical influences. The goal is to create an aural identity that reflects the game’s hand-painted visuals and deepens the player’s emotional connection to Lana’s journey. His previous work includes The Last Guardian and Avatar: The Last Airbender, experiences that clearly inform the cinematic tone of the sequel’s music.

A Return to Lana and Mui’s World

Set on a planet divided by greed and power, Planet of Lana II follows Lana and her companion Mui as they confront forces reshaping their home. The story focuses not only on survival, but on the fate of the planet itself, with themes conveyed through visuals, music, and interaction rather than spoken dialogue.

Designed for both returning players and newcomers, the sequel builds on the original with an older, more agile Lana, expanded movement options, and puzzles woven naturally into the environment. Action, stealth, and cinematic pacing play a larger role, all supported by Furukawa’s orchestral score throughout a 6–8-hour narrative experience.
