Typin has released a brand-new Steam demo for Cupiclaw, its chaotic claw machine-inspired roguelike. The Paris-based studio also confirmed the game will officially launch on March 5.
Blending arcade nostalgia with roguelike progression systems, Cupiclaw challenges players to master the art of the claw machine, all in the name of saving a relationship.
A Roguelike Romance Rescue
Cupiclaw follows Morris, who has lost his engagement ring and doesn’t have the funds to replace it. With time and luck running thin, he turns to the arcade in a desperate gamble: climb from the cheapest floor to the top and win a new ring.
Players start at the lowest-tier machines, grabbing prizes while navigating increasingly chaotic mechanics. Each successful grab builds momentum, but traps and unpredictable machine layouts can quickly derail a promising run.
Build Combos and Upgrade Your Claw
The game features more than 70 unique prizes, allowing players to customize each run by adding or removing items from the prize pool to create powerful synergies. Strategic adjustments can dramatically alter how a run unfolds, giving Cupiclaw its roguelike replayability.
Upgrading the claw itself is equally important. Improved precision and power increase your odds against progressively more difficult arcade floors filled with tricky obstacles and unpredictable setups.
Along the way, players will encounter colorful characters and increasingly wild machines as they attempt to “claw” their way to the top and recover Morris’ lost ring.
The new Steam demo offers players an early look at the frantic arcade action ahead of Cupiclaw’s full release on March 5.
