Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful have announced a short delay for Replaced. The highly anticipated retro-futuristic cyberpunk action platformer will now launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S on April 14, 2026.
According to the team, the additional time will allow the studio to apply a final layer of polish and ensure the day-one experience aligns fully with their creative vision.
“We’re Super Close to the Finish Line”
In a statement shared by Sad Cat Studios, the developer explained that while Replaced is technically finished, the final stretch of development revealed the need for a few more weeks to refine and stabilize the experience.
“As a small team working on our very first title, we’ve poured everything we have into this project,” the studio said. “We want the version of Replaced you play on day one to be polished, stable, and true to the vision we’ve shared with you.”
The team also cited the overwhelmingly positive reception to the game’s Steam demo as motivation. Developers described releasing the demo as “nerve-wracking,” but said community feedback, gameplay videos, and reviews have provided valuable insight during the final stages of development.
Demo Still Available on Steam
For players eager to step into Replaced’s neon-soaked dystopian world ahead of launch, the demo remains available on Steam. The side-scrolling action platformer has drawn significant attention for its cinematic pixel art, fluid combat animations, and moody cyberpunk atmosphere.
Sad Cat Studios closed its message by thanking fans for their patience and long-term support, emphasizing that the team is “super close to the finish line” and excited for players to experience the final result on April 14, 2026.
