The demo for Witchspire will launch next week on Steam, alongside a brand-new gameplay trailer, just in time for Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 23 through March 2.
The open-world survival craft adventure featuring multiplayer co-op and creature collecting has already surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam, with more than 80,000 players signing up for a recent playtest. The upcoming demo will give players their first substantial hands-on experience with one of the platform’s most anticipated indie titles.
Turn Beasties into Besties
At the heart of Witchspire is a creature-collecting system centered around magical familiars. Players can recruit and bond with mystical companions to fight alongside them in battle. The demo will feature two starter familiars, with additional creatures planned for the Early Access launch.
Traversal and combat are powered by magic, allowing players to spirit jump, blink, and dodge with fluid mobility. These abilities add verticality and freedom to exploration across the game’s open world.
Define Your Coven
Character progression is a core pillar of Witchspire’s design. In the demo, players can level up to Level 7 and align themselves with one of two available Covens, offering early insight into the broader spellcasting customization planned for Early Access.
Base building also plays a significant role. Players can design a shared space for themselves, their friends, and their familiars. Using astral projection for seamless movement while building, Witchspire eliminates the need for clunky ramps or awkward staircases. The demo includes limited Hearth progression and access to the basic building kit.
