NIS America revealed Disgaea Mayhem with a new trailer, confirming releases on Nintendo Switch 2<, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in Summer 2026.
This marks a major shift for the franchise. Instead of turn-based battles on isometric grids, you control the action directly. Combat plays out in real time, leaning into fast attacks, weapon swapping, and crowd control against large groups of enemies.
A New Spin on the Disgaea Formula
You play as N.A., a mercenary motivated by money and sweets. Princess Tichelle needs her flan, and N.A. needs to get paid. That setup drives the story, keeping the tone in line with the series’ comedic roots.
While the combat changes, the core systems stay intact. Grinding still matters. You can level up repeatedly, power up gear inside the Item World, and reincarnate to improve base stats. The Dark Chocolate Assembly replaces the usual senate-style mechanic, letting you pass bills to push your stats even further. Damage numbers still climb into the millions.
Magichange also returns, now integrated into this action-focused structure. You can equip weapons across seven classes, including sword, gun, fist, axe, and bow. Switching weapons shifts your playstyle instantly, giving you flexibility mid-fight.
Classic demons like the Prinny also make an appearance, keeping longtime fans grounded in familiar territory.
