Publisher Silver Lining Interactive and developer Square Glade Games have officially announced that Outbound will launch globally on April 23, 2026. The reveal came during the Nintendo Indie World showcase, where the team also surprised fans by shadow-dropping the playable demo on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The demo now allows players to begin their road trip adventure immediately, whether at home or on the go.
Life on the Road Begins Now
The demo offers a generous slice of the opening experience, giving players access to a sizable portion of the first map. From there, the core loop of exploration, crafting, and sustainable living unfolds.
At the heart of Outbound is your fully customizable camper van, which serves as both home and hub. Players can design and upgrade their mobile sanctuary, craft essential tools, improve onboard systems, and adapt to life on the open road. The blend of cozy atmosphere and survival-lite mechanics encourages experimentation without overwhelming pressure.
The game supports both solo play and cooperative adventures with friends, making it equally suited for peaceful personal escapes and shared road-trip experiences.
A Cozy Hit in the Making
Combining open-world exploration with crafting and light survival systems, Outbound has resonated strongly with players seeking relaxed but meaningful gameplay. Its sustainable-living theme and camper-van customization features have helped it stand out in a crowded indie landscape.
With its April 23 launch date confirmed and demos now live on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Outbound is ready to hit the road.
