Developer Cococucumber has unveiled a new trailer for Echo Generation 2 during The MIX Spring Game Showcase, offering another look at the studio’s upcoming deckbuilding turn-based adventure. Alongside the new footage, a limited-time public demo is now available for players on PC and Xbox.
The sequel is scheduled to release in 2026 for Xbox Series X and Series S, PC via Steam, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and will also be included with Xbox Game Pass.
A New Story in the Echo Generation Universe
The demo introduces players to the opening section of Echo Generation 2, placing them in the role of Sister M, a psychic child caught in the crossfire between mysterious supernatural forces and a dangerous scientific organization known as FST.
Players must escape the group while uncovering the secrets behind experiments on children with unusual abilities. The story leans into the eerie, supernatural tone that helped define the original Echo Generation.
Deckbuilding Meets Turn-Based Combat
Echo Generation 2 expands on the tactical systems from the original game by introducing a deckbuilding-based combat system. Players collect cards throughout the adventure and assemble customized decks that shape their playstyle in battle.
With over 100 unique cards available, players can create combinations that summon allies, unleash powerful attacks, and build strategic combos against enemies.
The demo also gives players a first look at these mechanics as they explore early environments and encounters.
Demo Success and Franchise Celebration
The Echo Generation 2 demo has already seen a strong reception, ranking second in the “Popular Upcoming” category for turn-based combat and deckbuilding games during Steam Next Fest. The demo has also earned positive reviews on both Steam and Xbox.
To celebrate the growing interest in the sequel, Cococucumber is also offering a discount on Echo Generation: Midnight Edition, with the game currently 65% off on Xbox and PC through March 18, and 50% off on Steam through March 16 as part of the TurnBasedThursdayFest promotion.
