Goblin Cleanup Adds Rune System in Runed It! Update on April 6

Goblin Cleanup is getting a new content update on April 6, with developer Crisalu Games rolling out the Runed It! update for the dungeon-cleaning game currently in Early Access on Steam.

The update goes live on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2 PM BST and adds a new rune-based customization system, Kickstarter-inspired cosmetics, and mimic recoloring. A 25% discount for the game will also begin later that day at 6 PM BST and run through April 20 at 6 PM BST.

Rune system adds new pre-mission customization

The main addition in the Runed It! update is the new Rune System, which lets players equip runes before heading into a dungeon. These runes provide buffs, but each one also comes with its own debuffs, creating a tradeoff in how players prepare for each run.

Runes have a durability of five, which decreases by one after each completed mission. Once a rune breaks, it returns to the reward pool and can be found again later. Players can earn runes by finishing a dungeon with more than 50% objective completion.

New cosmetics and mimic recoloring added

The update also introduces a new batch of cosmetics inspired by Kickstarter backers’ ideas. According to Crisalu, these additions are based directly on community requests and are meant to reflect the game’s ongoing collaboration with its player base during Early Access.

In addition, mimics can now be recolored, giving players another new customization option for the dungeon’s disguised monsters.

Boss level delayed to a later update

Crisalu also shared an update on the game’s roadmap, confirming that Level 12, the planned Boss Level, was originally intended to be part of this patch. The studio instead chose to release the rune system and cosmetic additions now, while giving the boss content more time in development.

A release date for the boss level has not yet been announced.

Sale begins April 6

To coincide with the update, Goblin Cleanup will be available at 25% off, dropping from its standard price of $14.99. The discount begins on April 6 at 6 PM BST and ends on April 20 at 6 PM BST.
