Directive 8020 Gets New Trailer Ahead of Launch

Supermassive Games revealed a new trailer for Directive 8020 during the Galaxies Showcase, offering a quick overview of its upcoming sci-fi survival horror ahead of launch. The 60-second “Everything You Need to Know” trailer highlights the core premise, gameplay systems, and the threat players will face aboard the colony ship Cassiopeia.

Directive 8020 launches on May 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with pre-orders now available across all platforms, including Steam.

A Sci-Fi Survival Horror Set Aboard the Cassiopeia

In Directive 8020, Earth is on the brink of collapse, pushing humanity to send a mission to Tau Ceti f in search of a new home. That mission quickly goes wrong when the colony ship Cassiopeia crash-lands, leaving its crew stranded and hunted by an alien organism capable of mimicking its prey.

The ability for the creature to imitate humans drives the game’s central tension, as trust breaks down among the crew. Every interaction becomes a risk, and players must decide whom to trust as they try to survive.

Expanded Gameplay and Branching Story Systems

Directive 8020 builds on Supermassive’s cinematic formula with more active gameplay systems. Players will need to evade real-time threats, rely on stealth, and react quickly to survive encounters with the alien presence.

The game also introduces a story tree that maps out player decisions, along with Turning Points that allow you to rewind and explore different outcomes. A separate survival mode removes that safety net, forcing you to live with every choice.

Multiplayer and Movie Night Mode

Alongside its single-player experience, Directive 8020 includes a Movie Night mode that supports up to five players in local couch co-op. Players can pass the controller as the story unfolds, making decisions together to keep the crew alive.

An online multiplayer mode supporting up to five players is planned as a free post-launch update, bringing the same shared experience to online play.
