Square Enix has released a free Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support. Progress from the demo will carry over to the full game when it launches on June 3, 2026.
The demo includes the first two chapters of the game, giving new players a chance to start Cloud’s journey beyond Midgar before release.
Demo Includes Nibelheim and the Grasslands
Chapter 1 takes players back five years to the Nibelheim incident, where a younger Cloud and Sephiroth investigate monsters near Cloud’s hometown. Chapter 2 then moves the party into the Grasslands, opening up side stories, hidden treasures, combat encounters, and the Queen’s Blood card game.
The demo also includes Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s battle system, which mixes real-time action with command-based strategy and Synergy Abilities.
Streamlined Progression Features Added
Square Enix is also including new Streamlined Progression features for players who want to focus on the story. These options include unlimited HP and MP, an always-full ATB gauge, and easier weapon ability acquisition.
Pre-Orders Include Digital and Physical Bonuses
Pre-orders are now available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox. Digital editions include bonuses such as the Magic Pot Summoning Materia, Reclaimant Choker, Orchid Bracelet, digital artbook, and mini-soundtrack.
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds more bonuses, including the Moogle Trio and Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, plus additional armor items.
Players who pre-order the physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition can receive a Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy Zack Fair card featuring variant art by Tetsuya Nomura while supplies last. The Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC versions are also available at a 20% discount until June 10.
