Funcom has released Dune: Awakening Update 1.4 alongside The Water Wars DLC. The new update is available now and adds free content for all players, including new locations, rewards, and endgame missions.
The update follows more than 15 post-launch patches for the open-world survival game, including a recent change that made PvP fully optional.
New Locations and Endgame Missions
Update 1.4 adds Wind Pass, a former Harkonnen tech hub now controlled by the Water Shippers and tied to Arrakis’ water trade.
The update also introduces The Old Quarry Testing Station, a new, scalable Testing Station where players face Dr. Jalanta, a new boss with unique mechanics, inside her hidden laboratory.
Both locations include new rewards and five new Landsraad Missions.
Self-Hosted Servers Begin Rolling Out
Update 1.4 also includes the first version of Self-Hosted Servers, letting players host versions of Arrakis with custom rules. Funcom says the feature is still being refined based on feedback from early adopters.
The Water Wars DLC Adds New Cosmetics
The Water Wars DLC adds Water Shipper-themed building pieces and cosmetics inspired by Arrakis’ water economy. The DLC is priced at $9.99 and is also included in the Season Pass, which is part of the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions.
Sale and Community Challenge Live Now
To mark the update, Dune: Awakening is 40% off on Steam, bringing it under $30. Funcom is also running the Community Challenge: Secrets of the Water Shippers, where players can earn rewards by completing runs of The Old Quarry and Wind Pass Landsraad missions.
If all milestones are reached, players can unlock two weapon variants: the Vivisectionists Bone Saw and the Asteroid Harvester Maula Pistol.
