Shiro Games and Funcom have announced that Dune: Spice Wars will be available in early access through Steam on April 26th.
If that wasn’t enough for you, the fourth faction in the game was also revealed. The Fremen, the indigenous residents of the planet Arrakis, seek to resist the imperial invaders on their world. The Fremen are less affected by the desert conditions, and are able to ride the fearsome sandworms.
The leader of the Fremen in-game is Liet Kynes (seen below,) while the councilors are Chani Kynes, Stilgar Ben Fifrawi, Mother Ramallo, and Otheym. The Fremen units include Warriors, Infiltrators, Skirmishers, Fedaykins, and Kulon Caravans.
Sebastien Vidal, CEO of Shiro Games, commented on the release announcement:
“With so many massive Dune fans in the studio, the excitement I see every day of working with this universe is very real, and we hope this comes across in the game. With all this passion for the source material, and all the know-how we’ve gathered from making Northgard, we can’t wait to put this game into players’ hands.”
