Owlcat Games and Another Angle Games have confirmed that Shadow of the Road launches November 12, 2026, for PC.
The tactical RPG also received a new trailer during GameStar’s Find Your Next Game Show at gamescom, giving players another look at its party, combat, and alternate Japan setting.
Outcasts on a Deadly Mission
Shadow of the Road follows a group pulled together by fate, including ex-samurai, Shogun retainers, a mysterious child, his mother, and their bodyguard.
Tokugawa’s spymaster recruits ronin warriors Satoru and Akira to protect a boy with immense, unstable power. Along the way, the group faces bandits, imperial soldiers, and supernatural creatures while trying to reclaim honor and shift the course of war.
Choices Shape the Party
Player decisions will shape how characters grow and how their relationships change.
Choices can build bonds, break friendships, or repair family ties. Each party member brings their own history, fears, goals, and motivations into the larger conflict.
Tactical Combat With Yokai Power
Combat uses turn-based tactics with a samurai edge.
Players can build characters, open and upgrade skills, chain powerful combos, and use the battlefield to trap enemies. When a fight turns desperate, some characters can transform into yokai and tear through the battlefield as a last resort.
