Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics have released a new Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis mini-documentary focused on Egypt, one of the locations returning from Lara Croft’s original 1996 adventure.
The episode follows the recent Nintendo Direct appearance of the Egypt level and explains how the development team is reworking its tombs, atmosphere, and story elements for the 2027 reimagining.
Familiar Locations Return
Crystal Dynamics Experience Director Jeff Adams confirmed that players will recognize several locations from the original Tomb Raider.
“Egypt will be recognizable,” Adams said. “There’s going to be a lot of locations that fans will see from the first game.”
The team has also made changes as needed to support the story in Legacy of Atlantis while retaining the identity of the original areas.
Exploring Egypt With a Flashlight
One change highlighted in the episode is Lara’s use of a flashlight while moving through the tombs.
Adams teased that the lighting will change how players experience familiar spaces, saying the team is looking forward to players seeing what happens when Lara moves through Egypt with a flashlight.
The setting includes tombs connected to fictional and historical Egyptian gods, continuing the original game’s archaeological focus.
