Red Dunes Games and Agate are bringing Zozo and the Lost Dreams to Tokyo Game Show 2026, showcasing a Saturday morning cartoon-inspired search-action platformer built around acrobatic movement, combat, puzzles, and episodic storytelling.
The game follows 13-year-old Zozo, an aspiring superhero who becomes trapped inside his own dreams after an experiment with his neighbor, Professor Aisha, goes wrong.
Trapped Inside His Own Dreams
Professor Aisha helps Zozo build a machine that can send him into the adventures he imagines while sleeping.
A mysterious incident leaves him unable to return home, forcing Zozo to move through a series of strange dream settings as he faces enemies, solves puzzles, and gains new abilities.
Each area has its own theme, characters, rules, and challenges.
Combat Turns Enemies Into Projectiles
One of the game’s central combat mechanics revolves around knockback.
Hitting an enemy can send it flying into another opponent, creating chain reactions similar to pinball or bowling. The system gives combat a physical, cartoon-like feel while encouraging players to think about positioning.
Zozo also has access to acrobatic movement, including jumping, smashing, and dashing, as he moves through each area.
Pixel Art Meets Rasterized Environments
Zozo and the Lost Dreams combines pixel-art characters with rasterized environments.
The presentation draws on classic cartoons while using an episodic format. Each episode tells its own story while contributing to a larger plot, complete with opening and ending theme songs.
Players can also return to earlier areas after gaining additional abilities to reach alternate paths and hidden sections.
