Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster has received a new story trailer following Vihneek, a Skaven prisoner whose escape leads straight into another form of servitude. Developer Old Skull Games and publisher Dotemu shared the footage for Warhammer Day, setting up the aspiring assassin’s rise through Clan Skrell.
The stealth-focused action platformer launches in 2027 on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
Freedom Comes With Deadly Conditions
Vihneek dreams of becoming the ultimate Deathmaster assassin, but his opportunity comes at a price. Skiteek, an Eshin assassin from Clan Skrell, frees him from captivity only to place him under the clan’s control.
Rather than gaining his independence, Vihneek becomes a weapon. Clan Skrell sends him on assassination contracts without mercy, and each successful kill helps him climb its ranks.
That advancement brings its own dangers. Rival clans threaten his ambitions, while the Skaven underworld offers little room for trust or friendship. The story follows Vihneek through the fractured depths of the Gnaw as he pursues the reputation he craves, even as others use him for their own purposes.
Set Traps, Use the Shadows, or Attack Directly
Deathmaster gives players opportunities to sneak past enemies, lay traps, and use the environment against their targets. Planning and positioning are central to its stealth systems, allowing Vihneek to outwit threats before committing to an attack.
Players can also take a more direct approach, fighting through enemies ranging from weaker Skaven to towering rat ogors. Deciding when to stay hidden and when to strike is part of Vihneek’s work as an assassin.
Old Skull Games is building those encounters around decaying environments filled with shadows and concealed spaces. The setting places the Skaven themselves at the center of the adventure, with their rivalries and ambitions driving Vihneek’s predicament.
