Section 9 Interactive has released the second End of Abyss behind-the-scenes video, this time focusing on gameplay and level design decisions that shape the player experience.
Titled Where I Hide The Secrets, the video features several members of the development team discussing how they approach the game’s spaces and the way players interact with them.
Building the Player Experience
Section 9 Interactive co-founder Mattias Ottvall joins Environment Artist Gustav Bunse, Level Designer Robin Jansson, and Game Programmer Isabella Norström for the latest developer feature.
The group focuses on the design philosophies behind End of Abyss and how different disciplines work together to shape its gameplay.
Rather than focusing solely on individual systems, the video examines the relationship between level design, environmental work, programming, and the player’s moment-to-moment experience.
Level Design Takes Center Stage
Where I Hide The Secrets focuses on how Section 9 approaches its levels.
Bunse and Jansson discuss the environmental and level-design side of development, while Ottvall and Norström provide additional perspective on the gameplay systems supporting those spaces.
The video offers another look at the decisions happening behind the scenes as the team builds End of Abyss.
