Clear River Games and Taito have announced Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga, a collection bringing two 16-bit JRPGs to modern platforms in 2027.
Revealed during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo, the collection includes 1993’s Lufia & the Fortress of Doom and its 1995 prequel, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals.
Two Lufia Games Return Together
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom introduced the conflict surrounding the Sinistrals, powerful beings whose threat stretches across generations.
Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals takes place earlier in the timeline and expands the series with dungeon puzzles, turn-based combat, and enemy encounters that players can see and avoid rather than triggering randomly inside dungeons.
Both games will be included in the same collection.
The Ancient Cave Returns
Lufia II is also known for the Ancient Cave, a 99-floor procedurally generated challenge that resets characters to level one when they enter.
Players push as far as possible, using the equipment and resources they find each attempt.
The mode became one of Lufia II’s defining features alongside its environmental puzzles and turn-based combat systems.
Digital and Physical Releases Planned
Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga will launch digitally for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam sometime in 2027.
Physical versions are also planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Clear River Games and Taito plan to share more gameplay details and a more specific launch window in the coming months.
