NewsVine – 5th February 2010

I finally got me a new PS3 controller, I can now play all those PS3 games I’ve been meaning to complete. Now for the day today in the world of gaming.

Dinosaur vs Mercenaries

A multiplayer mode in a game called Primal Carnage, it will be a class objective based game with freaking dinosaurs. There are 5 classes of mercs and 5 types of dinosaurs. “‘Survival’ sees up to five mercenaries fending off AI dinosaur attacks while riding on a train, boat or the like, completing objectives and facing a boss battle at the end. ‘Power Grid’ meanwhile is Team Fortress 2-style competitive interspecies point-capturing play.” It’s great to see people do something a bit original. It’s a video game make it as wacky as possible.

High Voltage’s The Grinder Goes Multiplatform

A Left 4 Dead inspired cooperative shooter, The Grinder, has taken the opportunity to expand beyond its Wii roots to the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 as announced by the developers today. You may no doubt recognize the developer’s, High Voltage, pedigree for producing original IPs such as The Conduit. With this announcement, the game is now due for release by Halloween 2011. Creative officer Eric Nofsinger noted, “Given the sheer amount of quality content needed to make a game of this type, our game design scope, our team size, and the amount of time we have designated for polishing the game, we are confident that this schedule allows us to meet our expectations for the game.”

L.A. Noire No Longer an Exclusive Either, Coming to Xbox 360

I’m guessing its timely to announce that L.A. Noire still exists and is getting a fully fledged reveal in Game Informer’s latest issue. The Team Bondi developed title, also known for The Getaway series, will be published by Rockstar Games and feature “an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders” set in “the classic noir period of the late 1940’s.” The game was originally announced way back in 2006 but has really never surfaced any details beyond its cinematic teaser trailer – until now.

Fallout: New Vegas Teaser Trailer

Bethseda has confirmed that the Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas title is set for a release window for Fall 2010 on PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. Given that Fallout 3 was internally developed at Bethseda, Obsidian should be comfortable with the franchise given the development studio was originally founded by veterans of the original Fallout series, Black Isle Studios. A synopsis of the games is as follows: Fallout: New Vegas, the follow-up to Fallout 3- the 2008 Game of the Year – brings this beloved franchise to a location only Fallout could do justice: Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humor, and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes.

Rumor: Sonic Making Appearance in Mario Galaxy 2

What would have been called bizarre some odd years ago wouldn’t be surprising now. The crossover between Mario and Sonic is looking to go beyond its money milking olympic franchise and into each other’s video games. A source leading to Nintendo magazine NGamer is hinting that the furry blue hedgehog will appear in the Green Hill Galaxy Level. Oh and apparently Galaxy 2 will be really hard.
