Bandai Namco Studios Singapore and Kakehashi Games reveal Hirogami during State of Play, combining paper-powered platforming with action and charm.
Announced during today’s PlayStation State of Play, Hirogami, a vibrant new 3D action-platformer from Bandai Namco Studios Singapore and Kakehashi Games, will officially launch on September 3, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The game, which debuted in playable form at Tokyo Game Show 2024, blends fast-paced platforming with a unique origami transformation mechanic.
Folding a Hero’s Journey
In Hirogami, players take on the role of Hiro, a courageous warrior from the peaceful Shishiki Village. When a strange digital corruption known as the Blight begins tearing through their papercraft homeland, Hiro must master the ancient art of “folding”—transforming into origami animal forms to platform, puzzle-solve, and protect their world from collapse.
Each transformation offers a unique gameplay style:
- Armadillo Form: Roll through obstacles and enemies with defensive momentum.
- Ape Form: Scale vertical spaces and crush through debris with brute force.
- Frog Form: Leap across gaps and reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
With each level offering new traversal puzzles and platforming challenges, Hirogami blends charm, strategy, and fast movement into a stylish adventure wrapped in a delicate paper aesthetic.
A Platformer with Heart and Craft
The game’s minimalist yet expressive visuals draw inspiration from traditional Japanese origami art, layering a warm storybook feel with responsive gameplay. Hirogami aims to capture the spirit of classics like Klonoa and Kameo while introducing modern mechanics centered around transformation and exploration.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, known for contributing to titles like Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Ace Combat 7, Hirogami marks the studio’s first original IP in the platforming genre. It is published by Kakehashi Games, a company dedicated to spotlighting creative Japanese and Southeast Asian games for global audiences.
Pre-Orders and Wishlist
Hirogami is available to wishlist now on Steam, and PlayStation 5 pre-orders are live via the PlayStation Store. No word yet on a physical edition or Deluxe bonuses, but more updates are expected in the coming months.
