Pragmata Reveals Gameplay and Story Details in New Capcom Showcase

Capcom’s long-awaited sci-fi action game Pragmata got a huge spotlight during the latest Capcom Showcase, with brand-new gameplay footage and story details that shed light on its mysterious setting and two unlikely protagonists. Launching in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Pragmata introduces a thrilling mix of hacking puzzles, gunplay, and cooperative exploration that’s equal parts intense and emotional.

Set on the moon in the near future, the story begins when humanity loses contact with its lunar research station after a mysterious silence falls over its communications. Players take on the role of Hugh Williams, a member of an investigation team sent to uncover the truth. But after a lunar quake leaves him stranded and injured, Hugh is rescued by an unusual android named Pragmata, a girl-like figure born from Lunafilament — a futuristic material that can replicate anything.

Nicknaming her “Diana,” Hugh teams up with his curious new companion in a desperate fight for survival on the lunar base, battling corrupted machines and unlocking the secrets buried beneath the surface.

Unique Hack-and-Blast Combat

One of Pragmata’s most intriguing features is its combat system, which hinges on Diana’s hacking skills. When aiming at enemies, players enter a mini hacking interface that lets Diana disable armor or defenses, opening enemies up for Hugh’s powerful ranged attacks. It’s a dynamic, layered mechanic that pushes players to strategize in the middle of combat, making every encounter feel tactical and tense.

Exploration follows a similar teamwork dynamic: Diana hacks doors, consoles, and other environmental systems, while Hugh uses his suit’s jet-powered thrusters to cross dangerous terrain. Whether in battle or just moving forward, success hinges on coordinating both characters’ strengths.

Try It Now — Sort Of

Capcom has launched the official Pragmata website, complete with an interactive “Hacking Minigame” that lets fans try out a small piece of the game’s puzzle-combat system. While the full release is still set for 2026, Pragmata will be playable at Gamescom 2025 and additional events leading up to launch.

The game is now available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store and Steam. For more updates, follow Pragmata on Instagram, Facebook, and X (Twitter).
