Indie duo Toadzillart and cozy game publisher Future Friends Games (known for SUMMERHOUSE, Gourdlets, and Tiny Aquarium) have announced that Whimside, their charming creature collection idle game, will officially launch for PC via Steam on August 7.
Whimside transforms your desktop into a tiny, whimsical ecosystem. Whether you’re working, studying, or watching videos, Whimside quietly hums along at the bottom of your screen—always ready for a moment of joy.
Work Hard, Whim Hard
At its heart, Whimside is a relaxing, open-ended creature collector. You’ll gather a variety of adorable “Whimlings,” each with its own animated quirks and charm. Breeding two Whimlings together unlocks an entirely new species through procedurally generated combinations, keeping things fresh and surprising as your collection expands.
With each discovery, you’ll gain access to new biomes, decorations, and even special habitats that evolve your little desktop paradise into a colorful, ever-changing space.
Decorate, Explore, and Chill Out
The game’s soft pastel visuals and laid-back idle mechanics make it perfect for cozy gaming fans. You can personalize your Whimside with a garden, a beachside playground, or a full-on critter condo for your Whimlings to relax in.
New biomes are unlocked over time, each offering unique rare species and environmental backdrops. Whether you’re a passive player checking in once a day or an active breeder chasing the full Whimlingdex, Whimside fits your vibe.
A Labor of Love
Whimside is the debut title from French development duo Toadzillart and Tadpoly, who describe the game as a “true labor of love” inspired by their real-life cats (and unofficial Whimlings), Oscar and Tigri.
You can wishlist the game and try the free demo on Steam now ahead of its August 7 release.
