Lyrical Games Launches With Former Private Division, Devolver Digital Talent

Lyrical Media, the independent film and TV production company behind upcoming A24 features Onslaught and The Death of Robin Hood, is officially expanding into games. Today the company announced the launch of Lyrical Games, a new, privately funded publishing label focused on empowering developers of ambitious, high-quality indie titles.

The new label is led by Blake Rochkind, former Head of Business Development at Take-Two’s Private Division, alongside Roger Kurtz, former Head of Production at Private Division, and a team of industry veterans hailing from Devolver Digital, Humble Games, Microsoft, and more.

A New Home for “Triple-I” Developers

Rather than chasing safe bets or following the traditional publisher playbook, Lyrical Games aims to champion what it calls “triple-I” games: creative, polished indie titles that land between small-scale indies and blockbuster AAA releases.

“We’re not just looking for developers—we’re looking for partners,” said Rochkind. “Our goal is to offer some of the best deal terms in the space, including full IP ownership, true collaboration, and total transparency.”

The studio has already signed three titles, including a new game from Blackbird Interactive, the acclaimed developers behind Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

“Developers Are the Best Stewards of Their Games”

Lyrical Games was designed to support developers who want meaningful input on how their games are marketed and delivered to players. The team emphasizes early alignment on not just a game’s vision but also its audience, positioning, and long-term support.

“We built Lyrical Games to be the kind of publisher developers want to work with,” said Rochkind. “In today’s noisy market, shared vision is everything.”

Backed by Storytelling Veterans

Alexander Black, founder and CEO of Lyrical Media, sees the expansion into games as a natural evolution of the company’s mission.

“From day one, Lyrical Media has been about supporting storytelling in any form,” said Black. “Games are a powerful storytelling medium, and we want to champion creators who are doing something special.”

Lyrical Games’ first projects will be revealed in the coming months.
