Ubisoft has announced From the Ashes, the first major expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, releasing December 19, 2025. Launching the same day as James Cameron’s new film Avatar: Fire and Ash, the expansion follows So’lek, a battle-hardened Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan.
After a devastating ambush by the RDA and their new allies—the ruthless Ash Clan—So’lek awakens to a world in flames. With his Sarentu family scattered, he embarks on a desperate journey of grief, vengeance, and survival across the Kinglor Forest and a brand-new region of the Western Frontier.
Darker Themes and New Gameplay Features
According to Ubisoft, From the Ashes offers a darker, more personal narrative, blending grief and resistance into a new chapter for the Na’vi. The expansion introduces:
- Third-person gameplay alongside first-person immersion
- Intense new combat mechanics with tactical depth
- A deeper focus on emotional storytelling and survival themes
“This expansion delivers a darker, more personal story and intense new combat mechanics that heighten the emotional and tactical stakes,” said Omar Bouali, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment.
Editions, Pricing, and Preorder Bonuses
From the Ashes will be available as both a standalone expansion and as part of a new bundle:
- From the Ashes Expansion – $24.99 (requires base game)
- From the Ashes Edition – $39.99 (includes the base game, expansion, and Floating Mountains Bonus Content, featuring three banshee color patterns)
Players who preorder the expansion or purchase the bundle will automatically receive the Floating Mountains bonus content.
A Big December for Avatar Fans
Before the expansion drops, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will also receive a free third-person update on December 5, 2025, adding the long-requested New Game+ mode and third-person camera support for the main game.
Between From the Ashes and Fire and Ash, December is shaping up to be a landmark month for the Avatar franchise on both the big screen and in the gaming world.
