Eyes of Hellfire “Terror for Two” Update Now Live, Overhauls 2-Player Co-Op

Blumhouse Games and Gambrinous have rolled out the second major Early Access update for their co-op gothic horror game Eyes of Hellfire, and it’s a big one for duos. Titled “Terror for Two,” the new update is now live and focuses heavily on improving the 2-player co-op experience, alongside a wide range of quality-of-life enhancements shaped directly by community feedback.

To celebrate the update, Eyes of Hellfire is currently available at a limited-time 50% holiday discount, giving new players a perfect entry point into its haunting cooperative experience.

A More Balanced Experience for Two Players

The Terror for Two update makes several targeted adjustments designed to reduce frustration and improve pacing when playing with just two players. Most notably, the presence of the titular Eyes of Hellfire curse has been significantly reduced in 2-player sessions, now appearing only occasionally rather than consistently shaping every run.

Additional balance changes include increased survivability and fewer overwhelming encounters, making cooperative runs feel more tense without becoming unfair.

Key 2-player updates include:

  • Reduced frequency of the Eyes of Hellfire curse
  • +2 Health bonus for each character
  • Event encounters now spawn one monster instead of two
  • Vote events fully removed from 2-player games
  • Removal of the vote-related “Outsider” curse
  • Thorn Fresco rebalanced and scaled specifically for two players

Quality-of-Life Improvements Across the Board

Beyond co-op balance, the update introduces a suite of quality-of-life upgrades to improve clarity, pacing, and presentation throughout the game.

Players will now receive clearer information about curses at the start of each run, ensuring everyone knows which secrets to hide, and end-of-game curse reveals have been enhanced to make those final moments even more unsettling.

Combat has also received usability tweaks, including faster resolution when players are out of cards or vigor, and shield mechanics that now expire only when a player is hit, rather than automatically.

New Interface Features and Gameplay Enhancements

The Terror for Two update also expands the game’s UI and progression systems, adding more tools for players to understand mechanics and customize their playstyle.

New additions include:

  • A toggleable “How Two” control and gameplay tips page
  • Subtitles displayed as speech bubbles above characters
  • Additional cards added to the seal trade-in rewards pool
  • Public voting increases tension and drama
  • New pop-up screens when discovering gaming relics
  • Improved journal tracking that marks completed objectives
  • Increased fight power for starting cards

Eyes of Hellfire Continues to Evolve in Early Access

Blumhouse Games and Gambrinous have reaffirmed that future updates will continue to be shaped by player feedback, using Early Access as a platform to refine and expand the game’s systems. The Terror for Two update marks a major step forward for cooperative play, particularly for smaller groups looking for a more balanced and atmospheric horror experience.
