Lilien Games and WhisperGames have announced a new murder mystery game that’s headed to Steam, titled The Real Face of a VTuber. The game is set to release for PC through Steam on January 13.
Described as a “unique murder mystery centered on the VTuber phenomenon,” the title seems to take a great deal of inspiration from Capcom’s iconic Ace Attorney series, with solving a murder being the core concept of the title. The press release notes, however, that the courtroom mechanics are realistic and involve proper procedure, which would be a stark difference from the aforementioned series. Additionally, the story is said to be nonlinear and features several endings, as well as “optional assists” for new players and “intricate logic” for veterans of the mystery genre.
You can watch the trailer for The Real Face of a VTuber yourself on YouTube below:
“The Real Face of a VTuber blends courtroom intrigue and digital drama as a murder rocks a VTuber studio, and multiple suspects come forth claiming to be the face behind the same online idol,” reads the official story description. “The VTuber Kuripa was live on air when the crime occurred, so not everyone can be telling the truth… As the sharp-minded prosecutor Justin Truth, it’s your job to find out who is behind the avatar. Gather evidence, uncover testimony contradictions, challenge alibis, and outthink every witness in tense battles of logic and law.”
