Everstone Studio has announced that Where Winds Meet will launch its second major expansion, Imperial Palace, on May 28. The update will open the gates to the Kaifeng Imperial Palace, adding a new royal court setting, new story content, campaigns, world bosses, and multiplayer trials.
The expansion continues the open-world Wuxia ARPG’s larger Jianghu storyline, sending players into the center of imperial power to uncover conspiracies tied to the royal court.
A Living Palace With Thousands of NPCs
The Imperial Palace expansion adds a massive new area spanning more than one million square meters. The palace includes ceremonial halls, hidden spaces, and more than 3,000 dynamic NPCs spread across the Front Court, Inner Quarters, and Central Bureaus.
Players will enter the palace during an investigation before joining the Office of Martial and Virtue, the court’s intelligence agency. From there, they will take on undercover assignments while digging into secrets hidden inside the empire’s political center.
Palace Activities and Dragon Boat Festival Content
Beyond combat and story missions, players can take part in palace activities such as Cricket Fighting, Ice Frolicking, jailbreak attempts, royal meal sneaking, and encounters with hidden martial arts masters. Players can also attempt to sit on the Dragon Throne, though Everstone teases that doing so may come with consequences.
A themed Dragon Boat Festival event will launch in June, adding traditional customs, handcrafted gifts for companions, Five Elements exercises, and event rewards.
New Campaigns and Bosses
The expansion launches with the Sealed Treasury campaign on May 28, sending players into a heavily guarded royal vault after receiving an anonymous letter. In June, the Confinement Tower campaign will open inside the palace’s underground prison.
New world bosses will also appear in the palace grounds, including Gilded Lament, tied to the tragedy of the Cold Palace, and Cat Emperor, a corrupted imperial feline.
Multiplayer Trials Coming After Launch
After the update, two new multiplayer campaigns will unlock. Players will face the mythical beast Everdeer and take part in a moonlit battle against Moongazing, with both encounters built around distinct attack patterns and group strategy.
