Super Mario Party Announced for the Switch

At Nintendo’s E3 2018 Nintendo Direct, they announced the next game in the Mario Party series. Super Mario Party will be out for the Switch on October 5, and it looks like they’re going back to the series’ roots.

Super Mario Party brings back the original Mario Party experience in Mario Party mode, where characters move individually across the game board. There is also a new Toad’s Rec Room mode that lets players use two Switch consoles in Tabletop mode. It will include 80 new mini-games, including mini-games that make special use of the Joy-Con controllers.

The last few main-series Mario Party games made use of a car mechanic that had all the players travel together, so it’s a refreshing change to see it return to the original style.
