Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy Crossover Launches June 13

Wizards of the Coast is at it again with yet another Universes Beyond Magic: The Gathering collaboration. It’ll cross over with another popular video game franchise like last year. But instead of Assassin’s Creed, Wizards of the Coast teamed up with Square Enix to make a series of cards based on the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy Joins Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond Series

The Final Fantasy set is scheduled to launch later this year on June 13. According to a press release, players “will see characters from every mainline Final Fantasy game.” On top of that, players can now begin pre-ordering cards at local game stores, Amazon, Best Buy, and everywhere else Magic: The Gathering cards are sold.

Per Magic: The Gathering tradition, players can purchase a bundle, which comes with a little bit of everything the upcoming set has to offer. A starter set themed around Final Fantasy VII, with Sephiroth and Cloud being the two main legendary creatures, as well as a box of play boosters and singles so players can assemble their unique decks.

Four Final Fantasy-Themed Commander Decks Announced

Of course, the upcoming collaboration will also feature four commander decks themed around various characters from the franchise. Below is a list of each commander deck players can purchase:

  • Cloud, Ex-Solider (Limit Break) – Red, Green, White Mana
  • Terra, Herald of Hope (Revival Trance) – Red, White, Black Mana
  • Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian (Counter Blitz) – Green, White, Blue Mana
  • Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed (Scions & Spellcraft) – White, Blue, Black Mana

In addition to the Final Fantasy collaboration, Wizards of the Coast announced that it’ll be teaming up with Marvel to create another Universe Beyond. The Marvel collaboration has no release date yet, but it will drop sometime this year.
