Becrowned is bringing its lo-fi horror to consoles alongside PC. Publisher Top Hat Studios and developer 13th Street Studio revealed a new trailer during the Horror Game Awards, confirming a simultaneous Q1 2027 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The video also shows how the game’s direction has changed since its initial announcement, leaning further into grindhouse cinema, surrealism, and dark humor.
A New Trailer Shows Becrowned’s Changing Direction
Early looks at Becrowned invited comparisons to familiar psychological horror games. According to the team, it has since evolved to draw on the atmosphere of 1970s and 1980s grindhouse films and the dark satirical humor of 1970s French horror.
Russian cultural and literary references also inform the game, reflecting its director’s perspective.
Richard Torrance’s Search for Happiness Turns Into an Obsession
You play as Richard Torrance, a dissatisfied man who believes he can force happiness through sheer will. His achievements do little to address the emptiness beneath his controlling personality.
Richard’s pursuit draws him into disturbing places and a strange dimension where reality becomes increasingly uncertain. His need for control grows into an obsession, raising questions about the danger posed by the people around him—and by Richard himself.
Your handling of his relationships, inside and outside that dimension, will determine his ultimate fate.
Becrowned launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam in Q1 2027.
