Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has released a nine-minute overview trailer covering its campaigns, multiplayer, army customization, and returning co-op survival mode, The Last Stand. Publisher Deep Silver and developer King Art Games are calling it the largest entry in the series.
The strategy game launches December 3, 2026, with four playable factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus.
Four Campaigns Include More Than 70 Missions
Each faction gets a full campaign with more than 70 missions across the four stories. Branching paths and cooperative play provide different ways to approach the battle for Kronus.
Outside the campaigns, Skirmish offers four game types, customizable settings, and support for up to five AI opponents.
Online multiplayer offers 30 maps and three game types, plus additional options to tailor matches.
The Last Stand Returns With Companion Units
The Last Stand lets you team up with two allies to survive waves of enemies.
You’ll choose from five heroes and assemble a Strikeforce of companion units, adding another set of tactical decisions to each attempt.
Paint Armor and Equipment Piece by Piece
The expanded Painter tool includes preset schemes alongside custom colors, decals, and war gear.
For the first time in the series, you can paint units’ armor and equipment piece by piece, giving you more control over your army’s appearance across modes.
December Launch and Year One Plans
Dawn of War IV launches December 3, with Commander Edition owners gaining access November 30. Both editions are available to preorder with a 10% discount.
Year One plans include free updates bringing back Crusade Mode, plus maps, modes, Commanders, and a Mission Editor. Two major story expansions will continue the conflict on Kronus and introduce a new playable faction.
