From Madness with Love’s Bizarre Boys Return in Hunky-Dory Lovey-Dovey DLC, Launching May 29

PLAYISM and developer jamsanpoid are turning up the chaos and charm in their offbeat dating sim From Madness with Love, with a new story DLC called Hunky-Dory Lovey-Dovey, launching May 29 on Steam.

The game that dared to ask “What if your romantic options were completely unhinged?” is back with even more unpredictable hijinks. If you thought high school was complicated, wait until you throw in body-swapping, vampirism, and a new ending for shy players who never managed to confess.

What’s in the Lovey-Dovey Madness?

The Hunky-Dory Lovey-Dovey DLC expands From Madness with Love with three surreal new scenarios:

  • Freaky Friday, But With Anime Boys: All four main characters tumble down some truly treacherous stairs and swap bodies for a day. Prepare for weirdness, confusion, and possibly romance?
  • Bloodsucking Boyfriend Alert: Either you or your chosen guy is suddenly a vampire. It’s the perfect setup for a gothic, slightly terrifying romantic escapade—and a lot of awkward neck-related tension.
  • New Endings for the Wallflowers: If you never worked up the nerve to confess, the DLC includes fresh endings for each character route that wrap up the story on a more hopeful (or at least delightfully strange) note.

The DLC continues the game’s commitment to unpredictability, adding to a base experience already filled with “unreasonable scenarios, intelligible nonsense, and very loud noises.”

The Boys (Still) Aren’t Alright

In case you missed the original’s glorious chaos, From Madness with Love is a pixel-art dating sim where you try to woo one of four lovable disasters:

  • Saeki Yuusuke: A loud, flirty golden retriever of a guy with the most incomprehensible lines of dialogue this side of space-time.
  • Arakawa Shuuji: A sleepy-eyed school nurse with soft words and ominous undertones.
  • Tamura Marshmallow: A misanthropic cryptid who curses you on sight and knows way too much about the occult.
  • Aorta: The pale, perfect student council president who’s obsessed with Japanese culture but can’t use chopsticks properly.

Each route already featured some unhinged twists, and the new content cranks that absurdity up even further.
