Vertex Zero and Red Dunes Games have unveiled Silent Planet – Elegy of a Dying World, a gothic sci-fi search action game launching on Steam for PC in Q2 2027, with console versions planned for a later date.
The title marks the debut release from Vertex Zero, a Quebec-based independent studio co-founded by James Alex Santoro and Virginie Cabana. The team includes developers with prior experience at Eidos Montreal, Rogue Factor, and The Game Kitchen.
A Gothic Sci-Fi Homage
Silent Planet draws inspiration from genre-defining classics such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Super Metroid, blending their exploratory depth with a darker, more atmospheric sci-fi setting.
The game promises a layered narrative experience, deep RPG mechanics, and a richly detailed world steeped in gothic aesthetics and cosmic dread.
A Dying World, A Final Hope
Set in the year 2997, players follow Apranik as her homeworld collapses under a catastrophic planetary disaster. Her only hope lies in finding the Angel’s Egg, an ancient artifact created by the Primeval Ones, rumored to hold the key to all life in the universe.
Her search leads her into a forsaken megacomplex, once intended as humanity’s salvation but now reduced to a tomb on a desolate planet in a dying solar system. Beyond the mysterious Starseer Portals await the remnants of the Shunned Ones and revelations long buried in cosmic ruin.
Combat, Customization, and Cosmic Horror
Silent Planet throws players into fast-paced side-scrolling combat from the outset, as grotesque creatures emerge from the darkness. Players will wield both devastating melee weapons and psychokinetic abilities to survive against biomechanical horrors and the decaying remnants of a lost civilization.
Key features include:
- 20 to 40+ hours of narrative-driven gameplay
- Layered RPG systems with progression trees and character customization
- A sprawling underground megacomplex filled with secrets and reactive environments
- Ancient artifacts that reveal the chronicles of a forgotten alien race
- Carefully tuned mechanics built for exploration, immersion, and replayability
Blending solitude, cosmic horror, and deep progression systems, Silent Planet – Elegy of a Dying World aims to deliver a haunting sci-fi search action experience when it arrives on PC in 2027.
