Unknown Worlds has announced that Subnautica 2 will launch in Early Access on May 14 at 8:00 a.m. PDT. The game will be available for $29.99 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The announcement arrived with a new cinematic trailer offering a fresh look at the sequel’s alien ocean world, underwater vehicles, tools, and hostile creatures.
A New Alien Ocean World
Subnautica 2 takes players to a new alien world within the Subnautica universe. The sequel builds on the series’ exploration and survival systems while introducing new tools, vehicles, and environmental threats.
For the first time in the series, players will also be able to explore with optional four-player co-op.
One of Steam’s Most-Wishlisted Games
Unknown Worlds says Subnautica 2 has ranked as the No. 1 wishlisted game on Steam for nine consecutive months since September 2025. The series has sold more than 18.5 million copies worldwide.
In a statement, Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill said the team is looking forward to player feedback as the game grows through Early Access.
Launching on PC and Xbox
Subnautica 2 launches in Early Access on May 14 for PC and Xbox Series consoles. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store.
