Akupara Games held its first Akupara Direct, a 30-minute showcase celebrating the publisher’s tenth anniversary with new game reveals, release dates, and publishing updates.
Hosted by AlphaBetaGamer, the showcase highlighted several upcoming projects, including Bonespire, Airframe Ultra, Rain World Anthology Edition, Aokaki, and the next Darkside Detective game.
Bonespire Revealed
Akupara opened the lineup with Bonespire, the next game from Cryptmaster developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams.
Bonespire is a whimsical-dark crafting sim where players work from a wizard tower, forge ancient artifacts, brew questionable potions, and decipher scrolls. Visitors will arrive to trade, with player choices affecting the land below as seen from the tower window.
Bonespire is coming soon to PC.
Airframe Ultra Gets a Release Date
Airframe Ultra, the next game from Rain World developer Videocult, launches November 5 on PC.
The retro combat racer lets players build a racer, ride an airframe hoverbike, and fight through the streets of Megacity West with pipes, chains, katanas, and other weapons. Online racing can shift into on-foot brawling, with players able to knock each other off bikes and steal rides.
Rain World Anthology Edition Heads to Switch 2
Akupara also announced Rain World Anthology Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch through a physical partnership with Serenity Forge.
The package includes the base game, Downpour, and The Watcher. The Nintendo Switch 2 release marks the game’s debut on the platform.
The Standard Edition includes an embossed slipcover. The Collector’s Edition adds an artbook, knitted Slugcat scarf, linking keychain, Shaker standee, holographic sticker sheet, soundtrack download card, and collector’s box.
Kumitantei Episode 2 Arrives in November
Kumitantei: Old School Slaughter Episode 2 launches November 12 on PC.
Mango Factory’s episodic murder-mystery ADV released its first episode in April, which currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam.
Aokaki Joins Akupara Through Kallisti Games
Akupara also announced Kallisti Games, a new publishing sub-label, with Aokaki as its debut title.
Aokaki is a retro feudal platformer filled with insect-inspired characters. Players will dash, pogo, and parry across a war-torn land while trying to take it back from the shogun.
Aokaki is coming to PC in 2027.
The Darkside Detective Returns
The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon received a new case teaser during the Direct.
Spooky Doorway’s third supernatural point-and-click entry teased a case involving werewolves and traffic. The game arrives on PC in 2027, with a demo available now.
Montabi Gets a Desktop Companion
Akupara also revealed Working with Montabi, a free desktop companion from Mankibo.
Players can place items around their room to attract different Montabi, fill out a Montapedia, and use productivity tools like a to-do list, Pomodoro timer, and lo-fi music player. It is coming to PC and Mac as a free-to-play release.
Akupara Marks 10 Years
Akupara Games was founded on October 5, 2016, and has built a catalog of nearly 60 games without outside investment.
The publisher’s lineup includes Rain World, Cryptmaster, Grime, Mutazione, Desert Child, and The Darkside Detective.
